Who We Are

Rent-A-Somm was founded on three principles:

• to make wine more accessible by sharing knowledge about the various wine styles and regions around the world

• to help expand your horizons and expose you to new and different wines

• to further your appreciation of how wine complements food and vice-versa

Rent-A-Somm is a for-hire service that provides both private, in-home wine events and services for the general public as well as assistance to restaurants and private clubs that do not have a staff sommelier. Rent-A-Somm also offers wine & spirit education ranging from single tasting events or pairing dinners to more in-depth 6 week courses for anyone with a “thirst” for knowledge about what’s in their glass.

Todd Miner, founder of Rent-A-Somm, is a Certified Sommelier through the UK-based Court of Master Sommeliers. After twenty years in automotive engineering, Todd pursued his passion for wine knowledge. His mission is to share his enthusiasm for wine, teach others, and enhance the enjoyment of wine and spirits. In addition to sommelier certification, some of Todd’s other accomplishments include Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 3, winemaking and viticulture study, Certified Master Taster, Fine Vintage Level 1 Spirits, Canadian Wine Scholar and French Wine Professional.
